无论是哪种情况，关于看到塑料垃圾的描述只需两三句话，而其余的，则可以在当时经历的前因后果、以及看到塑料垃圾后的一些感受或行动多做描述。

Undoubtedly, plastic waste has been a big problem in many places. Today, I’d like to talk about one time when I saw plastic waste. 

Well, it was about 7 years ago, probably in the springtime. At the time, I was feeling a bit stressed, so I decided to take my annual leave and enjoy a 5-day retreat by the sea.

I booked a flight to Krabi, a coastal town in Thailand, where I had previously visited an island called Poda. It’s a small island known to just a few, with long stretches of sun-kissed beach dotted with palm trees, azure ocean, and brilliant sunshine. I arrived in Krabi with great excitement, and I set off for the island early morning the following day. A 30-minute boat ride later, I arrived, but I was somewhat surprised to see that it looked slightly different: there were more tourists and sunbathers than before. Several wooden huts selling drinks and snacks were added as well. Then, I strolled along the beach to a cove at the far end of the shore.

However, much to my disappointment, the once beautiful beach was scattered with waste. Every few metres, I came across a plastic bag or an empty bottle. Even worse, as waves broke on the shore, some plastic waste was brought to the sea. Seeing this, I felt sad. It’s not because my seaside retreat was spoilt. It was more a matter of witnessing a wonderland turning into a litter-packed place, and what made it annoying was that tourists seemed unaware, ignorant, and even mindless of the damage they did to the island.

After this trip, I wrote to the local tourism office, telling them about the issue. Hopefully, Poda Island now has regained its original beauty and tranquillity.
