  剑桥雅思11Test1口语Part3范文-Different types of home

  Part 3

  1. What kinds of home are most popular in your country? Why is this?

参考 回答 1 I suppose it depends on where you live. In the cities I would say flats, as there are many high- rise buildings continually going up. In the countryside however, it’ s very different. Most of my family live in bungalows, some of which they built themselves. I suppose this is because of the amount of space available. Different areas will have different amounts.

参考 回答 2 Apartments. Because of the large population of China, and the fact that they all want to live on the east side of the country means that space is very limited. Apartments can hold more people because they can be built up and not out, which means that you can utilise the ground space more effectively.

  2. What do you think are the advantages of living in a house rather than an apartment?

参考 回答 1 That’ s a good question, I’ ve never really thought about it before as I’ ve never lived in a house. If I think about it, I suppose the main benefit would be having more room. More space would be great as I would be able to store all my clothes and be able to have more furniture in my bedroom.

参考 回答 2 I think the biggest advantage of living in a house rather than an apartment especially if it is a detached house would be away from the noise. Within apartments you may have neighbours with small children, allowed TV or even maybe a barking dog that would keep you up at night. Another advantage is that generally houses are bigger than apartments so you would have more space to live in, which means you can totally relax when you’ re stressed.

  3. Do you think that everyone would like to live in a larger home? Why is that?

参考 回答 1 I suppose so. I know I certainly would. If I did though, I probably wouldn’ t be able to live in the city centre. There are some lovely big houses on the outskirts of Beijing and although they’ re very expensive I love to be able to buy one in the future.

参考 回答 2 No, I don’ t. First of all, it would be very hard to clean a very large house and will probably also take a long time. Secondly, you may feel lonely if you live in it by yourself. Last but not least, and perhaps most importantly, it will be incredibly expensive, certainly in Beijing, to purchase a big house and may not even be possible now due to the population.

  4. How easy is it to find a place to live in your country?

参考 回答 1 In a word, very. There are plenty of real estate agents around Beijing and, with all the new buildings being developed, it’ s easy to find a flat to rent or even buy, should you want to. As for other parts of China, I really don’ t know because I’ ve never lived anywhere other than here. I assume that it would be similar in other places around the country.

参考 回答 2 The fast answer to this, is not very. Most people want to find a house near their work so that they can commute easily to and fro. Unfortunately, the house prices in the centre of Beijing are prohibitively expensive and most people would need to live on the outskirts of the city, or even maybe further out. I don’ t really know about other cities because I’ ve never been outside Beijing.

  5. Do you think it’ s better to rent or to buy a place to live in? Why?

参考 回答 1 As I’ d like to do some travelling in the near future, I don’ t want to buy just yet. I want to work in the UK for a few years after I graduate and I don’ t think I’ ll be able to afford a house or flat there, so renting would be my only option. After I get married though, I’ d like to have a place I can call my own. Also, with the house prices going up all the time it would be a great investment for me and I might be able to even buy two!

参考 回答 2 I think it’ s better if you purchase your home rather than simply rent it. The main reason for this is that paying a mortgage is generally cheaper than paying rent every month, and at the end of the mortgage period when you have finished paying the bank back, the property is then yours to do with as you wish. If you simply rent for a number of years you just need to keep spending money with no return on your investment.

  6. Do you agree that there is a right age for young adults to stop living with their parents? Why is that?

参考 回答 1 Yes, I do. I think that kids should moveout after they graduate. I’ d like to do a Masters so, for me, that’ d be about 23. I will have had a little experience living away from home by then and I don’ t think I’ d like to move back in with my folks. I know not everyone thinks as I do, especially here in China, but that’ s just my own opinion.

参考 回答 2 It’ s very traditional here in China that young adults keep living at home until they want to get married. It is our responsibility to look after our parents until this time and most of us are happy to do so because even if we work we wouldn’ t necessarily pay rent. Also, when we are in our early 20s we are not earning a lot of money so we still rely on the support of our parents to help us.
