本月的官考由最初的四场变成了六场。托福官方在8月中旬宣布增加9月7日与9月21日下午场考试。在这个月，托福官方再次宣布了另一则：从9月6日起，考生参加托福考试的间隔时间被缩短至3天。此前两次考试的时间间隔最短为12天，但目前考生可以连续两个周末参加托福考试。这对于不少学生来说，是非常好的消息。此改革大大提升了学生在提交学校申请前可以参加考试的次数。

Which do you think is better and why? 有些人认为历史遗迹应该对大众开放，但有些人认为这些古迹只应该对专家与研究人员开放。你认为哪种更好？为什么？这一道题目非常新颖，在近几年的考题中，找不到类似的话题。但是可以从自己的经历找到思路来答题，大多数人在人生中应该都是有参观过历史遗迹的，在参观的同时我们可以看到一些相关的规定例如不要破坏文物，如果我们能做到这一规定，这对于研究人员其实是没有影响的。反之，在人们破坏了历史遗迹的时候，这对于研究来说是一个无法挽回的损失。

Which type of parents do you think is better? 有些父母会尝试避免让孩子犯错，但有些父母会让孩子犯错，哪种父母你觉得更好？这一题是重复2018年3月11日的考题。在思路的展开时，可以从“mistake”这个关键词来展开；mistake可以是小错误（比如上学的早晨赖床导致迟到），父母其实是可以让孩子自己吸取教训的。但如果是大错误（比如酒精毒品），作为负责的父母，一定是需要阻止的。

When you are facing some problems, do you prefer to ask your friends for help in person or make a phone call with your friends? 当你面对一些困难的时候，你倾向向朋友当面请教还是给朋友打电话解决问题？这一题虽然不是过去几年的考试原题，但是同类型的题有不少。从根本上来说，这一题是把用电话交流与面对面交流做比较，在想思路的时候可以从各方的优点来出发。例如打电话的好处一定是方便了，不管俩人在哪里，都可以通话。而见面的好处就会是能够更加清晰表达问题，不会有通讯信号的影响，对方可以看到面部表情，交流可以更加顺畅。

Do you agree that people should keep in touch with their family and friends during the trip? 你同意以下观点吗？当人们在旅行的时候应该与家人朋友保持联系。这道题再次重复了去年的原题，为2018年9月8日的Task 2。可以从自己的个人经历来思考。不联系的情况有可能是自己想要静一静，或者想要活在当下，全身心投入到旅行中；那联系的情况自然是家人可能会担心我们的安危，每一天报平安是大多数人会在旅行中做的。

总体来说，本月托福考试独立口语部分中，6次考试的题目有4道是重复近两年的考题。独立口语有一种重复考题的趋势。没有重复的题目中，思路也是可以由找关键词的方式来展开的。学生只要在平时练习多加积累，多做思路上的总结，是可以应对好独立口语考题的。

Supposed that you have been accepted by two different universities, one is well-known for its excellent resources, but the tuition is expensive, while another one has less resources but offers you scholarship, which university would you choose and why?

Personally, I would choose the school that offers me scholarship. As we all know, college tuition is insanely costly, and a lot of people have been paying off student loans for years after graduation. For me, I long for a debt-free life; hence, I would definitely take advantage of scholarship and reduce financial burden of my own. Moreover, more resources at school do not necessarily mean I would achieve success. I’m convinced being outstanding requires myself putting efforts. Even though the school is not able to provide tons of opportunities, I could always utilize those existing ones. This way, I could make the best of this circumstance.

I think historical sites should be open to the general public as well. It is always a good thing to know more about history. Making the place available to people could have a huge educational impact in society. For those who are interested in history, they could learn more about the past by visiting those sites. And this kind of experience could not be replaced by reading documentary books only.

In addition, the government could enforce certain policy to protect these sites and ensure experts would have enough time working at the historical places. For instance, the museum could close a day each week and set laws to prevent people from damaging relics. This way, people are able to visit without intervening researcher’s work.

From my perspective, I think parents should allow their kids to make mistakes. First of all, growing up is a process of exploring new things. If parents try to intervene, it would be very likely to trigger the kids’ curiosity, and they might become rebellious and go against the parents. The outcome could be truly unfavorable. Besides, learning a lesson by themselves would be more memorable for the children. Consequences come along with the mistakes they have made. While taking responsibility for what they have done, the kids could gain a valuable lesson. As the similar situation comes next time, these children would be aware and stay vigilant.

Since everyone has his or her laptop nowadays, do you think it is a good idea for the school to shut down the computer room?

From my point of view, I think the school should still make the computer room available for the students. First of all, no one could guarantee that he or she would never encounter any technical issues. When the students are struggling with breakdown of their own laptop, they could use the school computer as a backup. In addition, there are some courses require students use computer in class. If they use their own laptop, it would be difficult to make sure everyone is staying on the task. Normally, the school would set up certain firewalls that prevent students from browsing irrelevant website. Therefore, having particular courses in the computer room would help increase productivity tremendously.

When you are facing some problems, do you prefer to ask your friends for help in person or make a phone call with your friends?

Personally, I would choose to make a phone call. First of all, making a phone call is much more convenient. Nowadays, life is so fast-pace, and people are busy with their own life. Meeting in person would require both of us to schedule a day and time, and this could be challenging. I might add some pressure on my friends’ schedule, which is not my original intention. In addition, I believe making a phone call is more efficient. While dealing with something urgent, I could immediately dial my friend’s number and have a conversation with him or her. And there is no limitation on our location. We could still talk to each other over the phone even if we are in different countries, while having in person communication seems impossible in this kind of circumstance.

Do you agree that people should keep in touch with their family and friends during the trip?

Personally speaking, I agree with this statement. First of all, if we stay in touch with friends and family, we could get some help from them when necessary. For example, if we run out of money during the trip, we could contact our family members, and they could wire some money to us. Therefore, we would be able to keep enjoying our trip. Also, sharing what we are experiencing could broaden our family and friends’ horizon. While travelling, sending pictures of beautiful sceneries to them and keeping them updated on what wonderous things we have encountered would make their days colorful as well. By doing so, their eyes could be opened even though they not the ones who are travelling.
