Some people believe that there is no need to intervene in this process, arguing that it is a part of natural evolution. However, others contend that human activities have accelerated extinction rates, necessitating efforts to prevent further loss. I think that while natural extinction is inevitable, human-induced extinctions should be actively prevented to maintain ecological balance and biodiversity.

Those who argue against preventing extinction assert that it is a natural and unavoidable part of evolution. They believe that species extinction leads to the emergence of new species, thus maintaining ecological balance over time. For instance, the extinction of dinosaurs allowed mammals to dominate and evolve into diverse species, including humans. Furthermore, they argue that conserving every endangered species diverts valuable resources away from pressing human issues like poverty and healthcare. In their view, allowing nature to take its course without human intervention respects the natural evolutionary process.

On the other hand, many argue that the current rate of extinction is significantly accelerated by human activities, making it our responsibility to mitigate these effects. Deforestation, pollution, and climate change have led to an unprecedented loss of species. I think that preserving biodiversity is crucial for ecosystem stability and human survival. For example, bees play a vital role in pollination, essential for food production. The loss of such key species could lead to dire consequences for global food security. Additionally, many species hold potential benefits for medicine and agriculture, making their preservation important for scientific and economic reasons.

In conclusion, while natural extinction is an inherent part of Earth's history, the current accelerated rate driven by human activities demands intervention. I think that efforts to prevent extinction are necessary not only to maintain biodiversity and ecological balance but also to ensure the sustainability of resources that humans depend on. Therefore, it is imperative to take proactive measures to protect endangered species and address the root causes of accelerated extinction.
