很多考生认为那些抽象的、概括性的、字母比较多的词就是“词汇”。其实，托福写作要求选词恰当，并没有明确要求用所谓的“词汇”。纯粹拼“词汇”是没有道理的。
事实上，在陈述理由或者总结观点的时候，出现一些简洁凝练的抽象词汇会让我们的表达更加高效。但是，在解释理由或者举例子的时候，用一些简单易懂的词组或者搭配往往可以帮助我们更加生动形象地表达思想。我们不妨多用一些简单的词组和搭配，让文章更通俗易懂。
