Today many thoughtful teachers, scholars and even statemen have propounded that education is a pathway to equip the pliable minds with characteristics and talents that confer needed contribution to societal progress. Yet we are still unable to decide whether overarching aim of education should tilt in favor of societal values or individual aspirations.

Some social advancement would demand labors experienced in agriculture, chipmaking or service sectors, while others would necessitate citizens with civic spirits for community engagements and volunteering. However, whether the aforementioned notion becomes exceedingly nebulous is dependent on whether pupils' intrinsic desires are satisfied. If both educators and the educational system deny young brains' individuality in personal quest, it appears that a circle of victimization would never cease.

My own view is that neither social value nor personal accomplishments should hold sway in education; rather, equal emphasis should be placed on being socially pragmatic and individually achieved. It is the interaction of both that explains why daring young people enter the healthcare business and social work, which are physically demanding but emotionally rewarding. The same goes for activism and counselling, where exposition is both understandable and justified. If this were not the case, young brains would be mistakenly seen as half-finished goods capable of being manufactured into stereotypes of entities. Worse, if education is centered on achieving one's personal goals, a false optimism may emerge, neglecting a country's looming problems.
