Some people think that the best way to become successful in life is to get a university education, whereas others say this is no longer true. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

如果着眼点在“best”，可以写，进入大学不是实现成功的的办法，因为还有很多其他的办法。

而着眼点还可以放在“successful”，即，什么叫成功，如何去定义成功。

1）如果把成功等同于金钱的话，进入大学不一定是的办法；

2）如果把成功等同于学术成就，进入大学应该就是的办法了。

People remain divided over the role of higher education in achieving a successful life. Some insist that to receive education in university is a rite of passage for the youth to realize life ideals, while others show dismissive attitude to the former view, arguing that the whole circumstances have shifted radically. For my part, the core issue lies in the definition of success.   

If someone define“success”as achievements in academic field, to receive tertiary education is definitely the most effective way to get access to success. Generally, universities are financed by governments who have the ability to channel a nation’s first-rank resources of teaching and scientific research to universities. Studying in such a kind of academic atmosphere, students can have the chance to learn the most cutting-edge knowledge, develop good thinking habit, and gain problem-solving experience, all of which contribute to a successful academic life.  

Admittedly, some others tend to define “success”in other terms, such as financial success or fulfillment of a warm and loving family. Even though college diploma can be a stepping-stone to financial success, numerous wealthy businessmen make their fortune by other ways irrelevant to college-studying experience. As for harmonious family life, there are hundreds of millions of citizens who establish sound relationships with family members and friends, a cozy life-style that is depend on personality and sincerity, but not on education background.  

To sum up, the two sides of the debate use the word “successful”ambiguously, which makes it difficult to decide which side is more sensible. Thus, reaching an agreement on the definition of “success”is the preliminary step to evaluate the influence of university education on success.
