Nowadays, with increasing fund flowing into tertiary education, university students enjoy more freedom to choose the class they prefer. Some people reckon that students are supposed to choose the courses given by the popular professors. However, as far as I am concerned, I personally contend that taking course with a professor who won awards would be a better choice and I will articulate my reasons in the following graph.

Admittedly, most students may tend to take the course offered by the professors who are voted to the most prevailing one, because their classes are immersed in relaxed atmosphere and fulfilled with fun rather than rigid presenting textbook knowledge. However, why students voted them as favorite teacher? Is this really because of the interesting class? The answer maybe not. In fact, students prefer to choose the professor who is easygoing. That means, the class rules and disciplines are rarely emphasized, allowing students to do something that irrelevant to the class such as the chit-chat or using mobile phone. At the same time, the workload for this kind of course is relatively easy than others rigid class with countless assignments. While, such kind of professor cannot provide students with sufficient and profound academic training which is indispensable for the future career. Therefore, it is meaningless to enroll that kind of class.

In addition, the professors renowned for outstanding research are likely to have a deeper insight into their specialized fields, enabling to instil more profound knowledges and techniques to their students. In other words, students in their classes would be exposed to the state-of-art technology and get the opportunity to participate in some advanced experiments, which will lay a solid foundation for their further study. For instance, the professors who got rewards for outstanding research usually have more funds on their research, supporting them to carry out some sophisticated and innovative experiments. So, it is highly possible that they will hire some students as assistant to join the project. That’s why so many students both national and international work so hard night and day in order to take the world-class universities.

Last but not least, enrolling the class with professor who won many academic awards means students stand more possibilities to get touch with other preeminent scientists or entrepreneurs. This is because the professor who got higher academic achievement are usually recognized and respected by their peers. For example, last semester, I took the business management class taught by a professor titled with a multitude of awards. During that period, he utilized both textbook theory and his experience working as banker into our class. Meanwhile, we had the chance to access to different directors as guest lecturer who came here to present their management plan in their companies. Owing to this precious experience, we, as college students, can put theoretical knowledge into real world practice.

In short, popular professor may let students have fun in the class. However, the primary purpose of university is to acquire knowledge and get self-improvement. Hence, it is wise and beneficial for students to enrol the course with those renowned professors.
