You might know nothing about advanced science but you have green fingers. There must be some kind of science behind - botany maybe? You know, when there is not enough light reaching the plant, its leaves turn yellow. The yellowing of plants is a good indication of their nutrition as well. Sometimes people tend to use too much fertiliser on their plants to make them grow faster, but what it actually does is creating a toxic environment that burns the leaves out causing them to turn yellow. 

To make your plants grow vigorously, you need to frequently check if the soil is in the right condition and you have to repot it once or twice a year.

到了初中、高中我们开始学习物理、化学、生物、地理等等。有的小伙伴认为这些学科很有意思，让他们了解到许多神奇事件背后的原理，比如为什么植物需要阳光、为什么铁会生锈、为什么鸟可以直接站在电线上而不被电击、为什么筷子在水里看上去是弯的……

Maybe science subjects just don’t catch students’ fancy at all. For one thing, it seems that scientific knowledge obtained at school has no connection to their everyday lives, and their lives seem uninfluenced even when they have a limited knowledge of science. For another, the way science classes are taught fails to engage students, not to mention keep them interested.
